Pastoral Care & Wellbeing

Nurturing Every Child

At Oakfields, we believe that nurturing both our pupils’ wellbeing and their connection to the world around them is central to a meaningful education.

Wellbeing matters

Every child who walks through our doors deserves to feel seen, safe and heard. At Oakfields, we are united in our commitment to protecting and nurturing each child.

We believe that when children feel truly safe, they reach their full potential. That's why we've built our school on foundations of trust, understanding, and genuine care. Our safeguarding practices aren't just policies on paper – they're a living promise that reflects our deep responsibility to every family who entrusts us with their children.

Communication is at the heart of everything we do. We want every child to know they have voices that matter and adults who will listen with open hearts. When children feel heard and understood, they grow in confidence and courage.

We see parents as our partners in this journey of nurturing young minds and hearts. Together, we create a circle of care that extends from home to school and back again, ensuring that every child feels supported, encouraged, and celebrated wherever they are.

In every classroom, we use the Zones of Regulation to help children identify and manage their emotions, supported by regular check-ins to ensure every child feels seen, heard, and supported. Our playgrounds include dedicated wellbeing zones, calm, reflective spaces where pupils can reset, connect with friends, or seek quiet time when needed.

Pupil voice is at the heart of what we do. Each year, children apply and are interviewed for key leadership roles such as Wellbeing Captain and Eco Captains, voted for by their peers. These pupil leaders work closely with staff and the wider school community to promote a healthy, sustainable lifestyle.

Our child has come a long way since joining Oakfields. The involvement of the teachers and support staff in the academic and personal development of our child is simply amazing.

Wraparound Care at Oakfields

At Oakfields, we are proud to offer our Wraparound Care provision, which includes both Breakfast Club and After School Care, designed to support busy families while providing a safe, nurturing environment for our pupils.

Our Wraparound provision is more than just extended hours – it’s an extension of our school’s ethos of care, support, and enrichment, helping children start and end their day positively.

Breakfast Club runs from 07:30 to 08:15

After School Care operates from 15:00 (depending on your child’s staggered finish time) until 18:15.

Your child will be cared for by our dedicated Oakfields staff, who provide not only supervision but also a warm, supportive atmosphere where every child feels valued and secure.
